Honda S2000 Driving Experiences
Famous from both the Fast and Furious film franchise, and the Gran Turismo series of video games, the Honda S2000 is a small but surprisingly fast two seater performance car, with a VTEC engine bumping 265 bhp and achievable top speeds of 150 mph. We have it available to hire for our Own Car Track Days or Arrive and Drive experiences here at TrackDays.
Information About the Honda S2000
Honda’s S2000 open top sports car model lasted a whole 10 years in production, from its launch in 1999 to 2009. It was unveiled as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations at the turn of the millennium, after being showcased as an early concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995.
The S2000 was designed and engineered to include independent double wishbone suspension, electrically assisted steering and integrated roll hoops, whilst its compact 2.0 litre F20C engine was situated behind the front axle to give it a 50:50 weight distribution.
It thus allows for an incredibly smooth and effortless drive once taken out onto the track, with the engine powering out 265 bhp. It accelerates pretty rapidly for a car of this size too, from 0 - 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, with top speeds of 150 mph being possible.
Cool Facts About the Honda S2000
The Honda S2000 is instantly recognizable to fans from the worlds of film and video games. In the Fast and Furious movie franchise, it was driven by Johnny Tran in the first film of the series in 2001, painted black with red snowflake motifs.
In the Gran Turismo series of video games, the S2000 has appeared in every released installment of the games from Gran Turismo 2 in 1999 onwards.
