Ambergate Car Museum Driving Experiences

Situated on the World Heritage Site of Derwent Works in Derbyshire, Ambergate Car Museum (also known as the Ambergate Motor Heritage Centre) is a destination that Classic Car enthusiasts everywhere will want to attend.

It has good connections to Derby, Nottingham, Mansfield and many other locales within the East Midlands.

And of course, Ambergate is also the home of the Great British Car Journey, a unique and universally appealing exhibition that traces the long standing history and heritage of the motoring and engineering revolution that Britain has always been long associated with.

It's easy to forget now, but some of these cars that are on offer to drive here were absolutely pioneers of their time and helped break down the barn door for others to follow that allowed us to enjoy the freedom of travel that we have to this day.

What is truly special about our Drive Dad's Car Experiences is that, whilst other car and motor museums may get you the chance to see some timeless models up close, you can also drive them as well.

Starting from as little as £49, we have three different levels of this experience available: Classics, Premiums and Luxuries. This includes the bestselling Ford Capri and Hillman Imp, a sporty Sunbeam Rapier Convertible and MG Midget, and the classy elegance of the Rolls Royce and Jaguar XJS.

It should be noted here that whilst the experience is called Drive Dad's Car, it may even be the car your Mum or your Grandparents drove, or maybe it was your first set of wheels after passing your test when you were a bit younger and greener(!)

Regardless, it'll give you the chance to drive a car you thought you'd never get the chance to take the wheel of again in your lifetime. Never underestimate the power of nostalgia!

Amongst the specially curated exhibits is a Mini that has clocked up an incredible 7700 miles, as well as a Morris Minor Million that is one of only 360 of a limited run that were produced to commemorate their huge production figures in 1961.

A dedicated device will act as your personal tour guide over the 90 minutes it takes to explore the exhibit, but we dare say once you start uncovering the many stories that each of the cars has behind them that you'll be there longer than you might think - but that's all part of the fun!
