16 Years Old And Wondering If You Can Start Driving?

16 Years Old And Wondering If You Can Start Driving? - News

Legally in the UK, you have to wait until you are 17 years old to start learning to drive and be in the possession of a provisional licence - which you can apply for at 15 years and 9 months), before you can get your four wheels on the road. So if you are at that awkward age where you are quite not old enough to start driving lessons, but are in the possession of a provisional licence and would like to kickstart your driving lesson journey, then we may have the solution you have been looking for.

Here at DrivingExperience, we offer Young Driver Training lesson packages which are available at multiple locations across the UK. There are a series of 30 minute Driving Lessons and 60 minute Driving Lessons available on our site, in both a manual and automatic dual controlled Vauxhall Corsa, which are aimed specifically at teens like yourself who are beginning to think about their driving lesson journey and would like to get a head start.

All training is done away from public roads, which is why Young Driver can offer lessons so young. The locations use realistic road layouts to those you would find in the UK and will often include roundabouts, T-junctions, parking bays, traffic lights and so much more, to make the experience as realistic as possible. The content of these sessions have been designed with the young driver in mind, focusing on key skills and techniques to help them to master the basics of driving. In these sessions you are encouraged to make mistakes, so don't panic if you are worried about that, this is the learning process and will help you build up confidence, all in the presence of an experienced driving instructor.

You didn’t hear it from us, but there are definitely some advantages to learning to drive early. The main factor is that you will get the technical bit done, you will know how to manoeuvre the car, you will have a feel of finding the clutch and getting the coordination of steering. You would have had a taster of manoeuvring through the gears and will develop an understanding of which pedal does what etc. So when you are 17 and start your driving lessons and enter the road with other road users, you are more likely to stay calm as you have the basics sorted, meaning you can focus on your surroundings a little bit more.

Throughout, the instructor will be there to guide you and provide feedback and advice. They will also answer any questions you have and help you understand the theory behind the driving techniques.

Visit our Young Driver Training page today and get yourself booked in for your first driving lesson experience and kickstart your driving lesson journey. You can book directly onto a dated voucher from our Young Driver Training Calendar, or purchase one of our open Gift Vouchers to redeem and use towards a session date and location of your choice.
