The main factor is that you will get the technical bit done, you will know how to manoeuvre the car, you will have a feel of finding the clutch and getting the coordination of steering. You would have had a taster of manoeuvring through the gears and will develop an understanding of which pedal does what etc. So when you are 17 and start your driving lessons and enter the road with other road users, you are more likely to stay calm as you have the basics sorted, meaning you can focus on your surroundings a little bit more.
