EVs Still Not Exciting The Public As Much As Classic Cars

EVs Still Not Exciting The Public As Much As Classic Cars - News

  • New data reveals trips in a classic car have a greater appeal to the British public than taking an electric vehicle (EV) out for a spin
  • Classic car experiences account for nearly double EV equivalents with web traffic soaring over the past 12 months and in the lead-up to Mother's Day
  • Treat mum to a Classic Car Antique Road Adventure this Mother's Day before they are all gone

Did you know that UK motorists still prefer the thrill of driving an iconic classic car with the wind in their hair rather than taking a spin in an electric vehicle? This interesting insight comes from our latest booking data analysis here on Driving Experience. It seems like the experience of driving a classic car is still unbeatable, even in the face of modern technology.

In fact, despite the EV revolution meaning more people are currently considering buying an electric car, it seems that when it comes to enjoying a day out and enjoying the UK's scenic roads, Brits are twice as likely to pick an experience which involves being behind the wheel of an old-fashioned classic.

Our booking data is further supported by our web traffic analysis, which also uncovered that web traffic for our recently launched Antiques Road Adventure package has increased by 96% in the lead up to Mother's Day.

The adventure involves taking a classic car on a 150 mile drive through the Norfolk countryside, as well as an optional antique auction challenge, with all profits generated being donated to a chosen charity, similar to that seen on the hit daytime TV series Antiques Road Trip.

Dan Jones, Operations Manager at DrivingExperience.com, comments: "There is something about driving through the countryside on a lazy spring day that is quintessentially British, especially if it's in a classic such as a Triumph TR6."

"While an EV has all the modern gadgets we want to use in our day-to-day lives, there is something about older cars that will always appeal to people interested in day trips out."

"Perhaps it is the feeling that you're mimicking a scene of an old romantic movie, or even that you get a chance to feel disconnected from the technological world around you".
