Have you always had an untapped burning ambition to be a firefighter? Did you enjoy watching Fireman Sam on TV when you were little, wishing you could join the Fire Service? This new Fire Engine Driving Experience day is exclusive to Kendrew Barracks and could be just the thing to realise that childhood dream! On arrival at the venue, your day will begin with a welcome from an expert instructor, who will take you into the cab of the Dennis Fire Engine that you'll be driving, giving you a full safety briefing and running you through the dials and controls, where you sit and also get you accustomed to the size of the vehicle, which is approximately 10 metres in length. You'll be offered expert tuition as you attempt to take on the custom-prepared auto course, navigating this stunning engine around slaloms and tight and technical sessions, as well as attempting reverse manoeuvres to perfect your parking. You'll also be presented with and get to take home a Certificate of Completion of your driving day so you can look back and remember when you were 'The Hero Next Door' - if just for a short time!

Driving experiences are usually measured in laps or distance rather than time. The number of laps or miles is clearly shown on each experience page.

Can friends and family come to watch?
Yes. Spectators are welcome at most venues, and many locations have designated viewing areas. Some venues may charge a small entry fee.

Do you need a driving licence?
Most adult experiences require a full driving licence. However, junior and no-licence experiences are also available and clearly marked.

- Welcome Introduction and Safety Briefing in the Cab of the truck by one of our fully qualified HGV Instructors
- 15 minutes driving a Dennis Fire Engine including slaloms and reversing

This voucher is valid for 10 months from the date of purchase. We recommend booking your voucher 8-12 weeks in advance. You can upgrade the validity when you order. There is an additional fee to book a weekend date.

Driver Requirements:
In order to take part, drivers must have and produce their booking confirmation and a driving licence which allows them to legally drive on UK roads
Drivers must be able to understand instructions given to them in English
Participants must be medically fit to take part
Glasses must be worn if required for driving
Please check the driver meets these requirements before you book
Venue Rules:
Anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to participate
No dogs allowed on site

Extras On The Day
Unless pre-purchased, an optional Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) will be offered to you at registration on the day. The pay on the day price is £5 more than booking online.
Weather Conditions
Driving experiences are still carried out during rainy weather. All of our cars are road cars and are fitted with wet weather tyres. We advise you to wear waterproof clothing. In extreme weather conditions, events may be cancelled. In this eventuality, we or the events team directly will do our best to contact the participant to inform you and rearrange your experience.
