In a time when the Ferrari 458 Italia, the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Audi R8 were but mere twinkles in the eyes of their manufacturers, another set of motors ruled the roads, the world, and, in turn, a generation of motoring enthusiasts' hearts.

Now, a whole new generation - many of whom weren't even born the first time they rolled off the production line - can discover them with our superb collection of Junior Classic Car driving days that we now offer.

There's a lot to be said for giving your young motorist who's aged 10 and up the chance to experience these heritage beauties for themselves. Although the world of cars has moved on and progressed so much in the last six or seven decades, it was these cars that made today's technological advancements possible.

Getting your child booked onto one of these experiences isn't just about the driving; it's getting to feel and witness a piece of motoring history up close, but in a fun and exciting setup that's as immersive as possible.

And there's so much for them to discover. Flying the flag for Great Britain is the pocket rocket that is the Mini Cooper S, and the timeless class of the Aston Martin Vantage. The US, meanwhile, is represented by such icons as the Dodge Charger RT and Ford Gran Torino. And that's just the start!

Ambergate Car Museum, based near Derwent Works in Derbyshire, also the famous home of the Great British Car Journey exhibition, has of course been hosting our selection of Drive Dad's Car experiences for a few years now. But now, they have also added our newest Junior Classic Car driving package.

Here, under the guidance and encouragement of a CRB qualified instructor, they'll get to enjoy driving a vintage Mini Cooper, on a fenced off laid out course. Better still, child admission to the Great British Car Journey is included in this experience, making it an ideal family day out (on which note, adult admissions will need to be purchased separately).

And when it comes to a truly classic drive, a no more ideal destination you will find than Bicester Heritage Centre in Oxfordshire, unique in that it is the only historic venue we have on our books.

Our Junior Movie Car packages that are available here, with the chance to drive as many as five cars made famous on the silver screen for either 3 miles (Blast) or 6 miles (Thrill) each, are hosted on Bicester's 444 acre site, which has a number of original buildings, hangars and workshops that have been lovingly restored and looked after year round by a dedicated team of on-site volunteers - giving them plenty to explore before and after their drives!
