And then there’s the small but very mighty matter of its fine tuned 1.6 litre engine, positively singing out with 160 bhp, offering impressive acceleration from 0 - 60 mph in just over 6 seconds, and achievable top speeds of 130 mph that make this one of the most enjoyable Mazda cars to take to the wheel of.

Fans of the Gran Turismo series of computer games will instantly recognise and love the Mazda MX5 RS, as it has featured in every single edition of the series since Gran Turismo 2 was released in 1999.
