Keeping Classic Cars Alive For The Next Generation

Keeping Classic Cars Alive For The Next Generation - News

There are some cars in our fleet where, beneath the bonnet lies history, as they truly shaped and in some cases, redefined eras. From the roaring Jaguar E-Type to the snappy Mini Cooper S, each of these iconic motors tells a thrilling tale of the automotive giants who created them, and the legacy that they have left on generations of car lovers.

With our Classic Car Driving Experiences, we offer the opportunity to drive many of these icons, which gives you the chance to understand just how important these legends are, embrace the awe of being behind the wheel of one and, in turn, you'll be a part of preserving their history to share with future generations, long after the engine cools.

The scarcity of some of these models today is driven by a number of factors; firstly by the rising costs of maintaining them, secondly, by certain parts or replacements being either discontinued or in limited supply.

When you also take into account that some of the heritage craftsmen roles such as coach-building or body-making aren't being filled quickly enough by new blood trained and of a high level of expertise to replace those retiring from these positions, and you've got a perfect storm against the very future of these cars.

One such driving experience which we have recently added to the site that is sure to inspire and crossover to a new generation of vintage car fanatics - and play a part in keeping them alive and well - are our all new The Icons packages. We've assembled an enviable selection of motors which we believe are icons, legends and the moment from across the generations.

Included in our fleet for these all-new experiences are a faithful replica of the Ford GT 40, made famous in recent years, of course, by the gripping biopic Ford v Ferrari, starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale, chronicling the making of the original model by Carroll Shelby that was built to rival the Italian supercar marque in the annual 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in 1966.

Then there's two timeless models that'll leave you feeling shaken and very stirred, with a replica of a 1960s Aston Martin DB5, and the equally desirable 1975 Vantage. And for those who want to channel some Sir Michael Caine in The Italian Job vibes, there is the much-loved Mini Cooper S.

The Stateside quotient is accounted for from another awesome recreation, this time of the AC Cobra, the powerful and stylish sports car that was a meeting of minds between AC Cars in the UK and Shelby Racing in the US, and the first to be fitted with a lightweight, small block V8 engine to rival even Chevrolet's best model.

You've got the chance to drive up to three of these incredible cars - and more like it - for 3 miles each at UK wide venues, with packages starting from as little as £49. Head to our Classic Cars Driving Experiences page today to book through our open Gift Vouchers, or browse our regularly updated Classic Car Experiences Calendar to see all forthcoming event dates we have available.
