More and more budding young motorists are taking to airfields and race circuits up and down the country to hone their driving skills, as our newly released booking data here at Driving Experience reveals that all of our top 10 bestsellers in 2021 were for Junior Driving Experience packages.
Topping this list was the 60 Minute Young Driver Experience, accounting for just under a quarter of all our sales in 2021. Here, those as young as 10 can learn essential driving skills such as moving off, accelerating and braking, along with road position, sign recognition and reverse parking.
This comes as many youngsters have experienced a bumpy road in their journey to securing a driving licence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the latest DVSA figures revealing a staggering backlog of 592,987 learners waiting for a test in August 2021, quadrupling from 147,716 in August 2020.
Alex MacGregor at DrivingExperience.com, says: "Junior driving packages give youngsters the opportunity to learn the basics of driving years in advance of their 17th birthday, meaning that when they are old enough to drive on public roads, they will have had a head start on their peers."
Alex adds: "The driving backlog has meant that lessons and tests have become hard to secure across the UK, slamming the brakes on many young people's aspirations to secure their driving licence. This has left youngsters searching for creative ways to commence or continue their driving education, with our packages being an excellent option."
Young Driver Experiences for 10 - 17 year olds give an actual insight into what skills are required to drive a car and last approximately 30 - 60 minutes. All cars are fitted with dual controls, and drivers learn with a qualified instructor.
