Rolling off the production line in 1996, the Dodge Viper GTS was a grand touring sports model, and was a more powerful muscle car than the first Viper RT/10 model that had come before it that same year to boot.
For starters, the hardtop roof comes off, making the option for it to be an open top drive, and a sliding glass window. Several of the suspension components were also now made of aluminium, offering much lower weight and thus better grip and handling out on the track, as it indeed used for drag and road racing in the States.
A thrumming V10 engine powers this bad boy, pumping out 450 bhp, capable of cruising from 0 - 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and 0 - 100 mph in 10.5 seconds, with achievable top speeds of 177 mph.

In collaboration with English racing team Reynard Motorsport and French racing team Oreca, Dodge produced a racing version called the Viper GTS-R for inclusion and participation in LeMans in 1996. Over the next 12 years, it went on to notch up an impressive 262 races, winning over 160 of these.
A year on from its first race at 24 Hours of Daytona, a special model of the Viper GTS-R was produced in 1997, called the GT2 Commemorative Edition. Only 100 of these were ever produced, and at the time could have set you back as much as over £67,000.
