In 2006, two years after the launch of their Gallardo supercar, Lamborghini first unveiled its convertible equivalent. The Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder was first showcased at that year’s Los Angeles Auto Show. Although stylistically owing much to its cousin, Lamborghini considered it to be an entirely new model.
The most obvious difference of course, is the retractable soft top, and in the case of the model we have available to book for driving experiences here on Driving Experiences, its bright lime green livery that makes it all but impossible to miss.
But there’s also a difference where engineering is concerned. The V10 engine is upgraded from 4.2 litres to 5.0 litres, which allows it to power out a supreme 520 bhp, with acceleration from 0 - 60 mph in a thundering 4.2 seconds.
And once behind the wheel of the Gallardo Spyder, with the air moving at lightning speed down the track, you can expect to reach top speeds of 195 mph. It’s the Gallardo - but definitely not as you know it.
