Real Madrid’s first team players have received their new BMWs for this season, with England star Jude Bellingham in the mix, with the opportunity to choose a top performing car to match his top performance so far.
As what is now a tradition at the start of each new football season, Real Madrid have once again partnered with BMW to gift their first team players of the 2023 - 2024 season a new car. This is the second year of the club’s partnership with BMW, and there is now an even further range of options for the players to play about with and choose from.
This year, the team have centred their options around cars with zero emissions. Unlike last year, where the team was only able to choose between a handful of electric cars, this year the range has expanded meaning players have been given the opportunity to choose between multiple hybrid-electric models.
The most ‘affordable’ car in the range available to the players is the electric i4 eDrive35, which currently costs €57,000, while the most expensive is one of the newer releases, the plug-in hybrid XM which costs nearly €180,000 euros to buy.
Star of the league, Englishman Jude Bellingham, believed that the XM was the perfect choice for him. With 748 horsepower, this plug-in hybrid SUV is the star of the show and reflects his superstar performance on the pitch. This SUV caught the attention of eight of his teammates, who also opted for this driving machine.
The next preference was the i4 chosen by seven players and the Italian coach, followed closely behind by the iX, the other SUV in the series, this one is battery powered and was a choice for the players last year, with seven selecting the car this season and finally was the electric i7 which was opted for by Nacho Modric.
The players picked up their new electric BMWs as part of Real Madrid's initiative to make their journeys to training more environmentally friendly. In a club statement they commented: “The football first team received the official BMW cars at an event which took place at Real Madrid City.
"This season, the team will use vehicles classified as '0 emissions' in order to be able to make their daily journeys in 100% electric mode.
"The players have opted for models such as the BMW i4 M50, the new BMW i4 eDrive35, the first BMW XM, the BMW iX M60 and the BMW IX xDrive50.”
