England v Wales: The Battle of the Supercars

England v Wales: The Battle of the Supercars - News

  • Wales footballers win battle of the supercars against England by nearly £150,000
  • Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale's fiery supercar obsession help Wales score one over their UK neighbours
  • England stars' love for their country isn’t enough as they mainly opt for British manufactured motors

In the lead up to the hotly anticipated clash at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on 29 November, here at DrivingExperience.com, we have decided to pit key players from the English and Welsh squads, not on their footballing ability, but on who boasts the flashiest, most expensive cars.

With both squads now fully in the World Cup spirit, we are curious to see whether the England stars' Premier League riches would triumph over the stoic Welsh combatants. Let's see who's fast, and who's furious.

Goalkeeper:

  • Jordan Pickford – Lamborghini Urus – est £200,000

The Lamborghini Urus's controversial loud and aggressive performance goes hand in hand with England shot stopper, Jordan Pickford. Not one to do anything in simple, conventional methods, the Urus and Pickford will always offer you some sort of drama in any mundane scenario.

  • Wayne Hennessey – Mercedes GLC – est £72,000

While Hennessey's performances for his club have been limited so far this season, his choice of car remains a safe option at the back. Offering high efficiency along with a comfortable ride, what this car lacks in style it makes up for in reliability. The Welsh team will be hoping this translates into safe handling by Hennessey on Tuesday.

Defence:

  • John Stones – Rolls-Royce Cullinan – est £329,000

If there was a car that perfectly matches the Manchester City ace, John Stones, we think the Cullinan is that. A luxury car for the 'Rolls-Royce' defender. Coming in with a hefty price tag but beautiful on the eye, Stones and the Cullinan can offer some impressive performances. You just worry whether there is too much focus on the style over the substance.

  • Joe Rodan – Audi Q5 – est £71,000

Rodon's choice of car leaves a lot to the imagination when you consider the other motors on the list. However, upon closer inspection it is clear to see why the Welsh defender has opted for a reliable Q5: offering secure handling, alongside efficient, no nonsense looks, Rodon, as well as the car will offer security the Welsh can rely on.

Midfield:

  • Aaron Ramsey – Mercedes SLS AMG – est £420,000

Wales first supercar comes onto the field alongside a player who is also one of Wales' star performers. Acclaimed for its engine and performance, this powerful car leaves its owners grinning from ear to ear when it hits peak form – much like Ramsey has over the years.

  • Declan Rice – Range Rover Sport – est £115,000

The Range Rover Sport is the staple car for many footballers. Not too flash and sometimes goes under the radar for all the hard-work it can put in, the Range Rover Sport marries up perfectly with Rice's can-do gritty attitude.

Forwards:

  • Dan James – Bentley Continental GT – est £210,000

A car that will turn heads wherever it goes is a good match for Dan James. Sleek, elegant and a well-known name in many households, Dan James and his GT's performances have improved recently as they try to find their true footing in the big super performance leagues. With both recently reinventing themselves and starting to find their true form again – the defence had better beware.

  • Marcus Rashford – Mercedes AMG G63 – est £150,000

Another player who's fine recent form has enabled him to play his way into the squad. However, unlike his AMG and its custom camo bonnet, this is a player who will not have gone on unseen. Featuring a monstrous 4L V8 engine under the bonnet, this car is loud enough for the whole world to stand up and listen when it roars forward.

  • Gareth Bale – Ferrari GTC4Lusso – est £230,000

A Ferrari for a Ferrari. Gareth Bale has been an A-list Hollywood footballing star for quite some time and always grabs the headlines when he enters the field. Sometimes suffering from patchy form and always under scrutiny by all forms of the media, both Bale and his Ferrari will be hoping to grab the spotlight when the main stage beckons.

  • Harry Kane – Jaguar F-Pace – est £78,000

Captain fantastic and a true patriot, what else can you expect from Harry Kane than for him to be driving in an iconic British car. Built for comfort and style, but deceptively quick when it needs to be, the F-Pace is a no-nonsense motor that does exactly what you would expect of it.

Result:
Wales - £1,013,000
England - £872,000

Verdict: England may be favourites for the fiery fixture, but the Three Lions could not slay the roaring Welsh Dragons in our supercar match-up.

Looking back on their choice of motors, it could be argued that it is the Welsh players' diversity in not all plying their trade in the Premier League's golden shores that means they're more open to supercars from around the globe.

Whatever the reason may be – we're sure that the English and the Welsh will both have fire in their bellies come Tuesday as they once again meet on the main stage.
