McLaren 570S Driving Experiences

First showcased at 2015’s New York International Auto Show with the launch of their ‘Sport Series’ range, McLaren’s 570S was their flagship model of this new venture, commencing production in 2016. In the four years since, it has gone on to gain the British automotive giant even greater popularity.

Overseen on design by McLaren’s chief in-house designer, Robert Melville, it has also had engineering contribution from Italy’s Dana Graziano, who provided the 570S with its 443 lb·ft of torque through the 7-speed dual clutch transmission they developed for the car.

The resulting car is thus a mixture of refined British style and turbo boosted European engineering, with a 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 engine sitting beneath the bonnet and powering out an incredible 570 bhp.

And in direct competition with its rivals, such as the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Audi R8 V10 Plus, it is a strong challenger indeed on performance, with super swift acceleration from 0 - 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, and achievable top speeds of 204 mph.

Reviews of the McLaren 570S from the motoring press and critics was almost universally positive once it was launched. Chris Harris - now one of the hosts of Top Gear - writing for The Sunday Times, awarded it 5/5, calling it McLaren’s ‘eureka moment … [it offers] sublime balance, plenty of character and is supercar fast without the Ferrari price tag.’

Car magazine also gave it top marks of 5/5, stating that the car’s acceleration from 0 - 100 mph in 9.5 seconds ‘means it decimates everything in its class, even the Lamborghini Huracan … a proper supercar for sports car money’.
