Information About the Ford Mustang GT 500
Joining the Shelby Mustang fold in 1967, the Ford Mustang GT 500 Fastback took everything that had made the Mustang GT 350 so successful in the previous two years, and turbocharged it to another level for American Muscle cars.
At DrivingExperience.com, we have it available to book for our dedicated Ford Mustang GT 500 Fastback driving experiences at our Heyford Park venue in Oxfordshire. This is available in Blast and Thrill options, giving you the choice of either 3 or 6 miles in these seriously cool Stateside thoroughbreds.
Whichever package you opt for, when you take to the wheel you’ll get to witness and feel just how powerful a car from this time was. Running on a finely tuned V8 engine, bumping 290 bhp, you’ll cruise from 0 - 60 mph in a fantastic 7 seconds, and could reach top speeds of up to 125 mph.
Cool Facts About the Ford Mustang GT 500
The rarest form of the Ford Mustang GT 500 you will hope to find is the one convertible model that Ford made of it. There had been plans as far back as 1966 to produce a convertible version, but due to problems with supply and finance, these were cancelled, hence only the one model - presumably a test mule - exists.
There was also a version of the Mustang GT 500 produced in 1967, known as the ‘Super Snake’. At the Original Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis in 2013, it went under the hammer at auction for a staggering $1.3 million (£1.06 million in our money). Fortunately at TrackDays, with our Mustang GT 500 driving experiences starting from £59, you don’t have to break the bank.
