Ford Mustang Driving Experiences

Carrying forth the Mustang name and branding into its sixth generation, Ford launched the current Mustang - or the Mustang S550 to give it its full title - to mark its 50th year in production in 2015, following six years in development by their chief engineer Dave Pericak.

You will be left in no doubt when you take to the wheel that you are driving and witnessing the sheer force of the most up to date American muscle car around. Weighing in at 1578 kg, with a wheelbase of 107.1 inches, there is superb handling and traction to be had when this hits the tarmac.

Whilst there are three engine options available for the Mustang S550, the one we have available to book for driving experiences on  DrivingExperience.com is on the highest powered of them all, a roaring 5 litre V8 engine, bumping out 300 bhp. You’ll zip from 0 - 60 mph in a scorching 5.2 seconds, and can expect to achieve top speeds of 143 mph.

As this was the performance car that Ford were launching at the time of Mustang’s 50th anniversary of production, they launched a special model of the Mustang S550 - the Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition - to mark the occasion.

This included a choice of two special edition colours from its launch year in 1964 (Wimbledon White and Kona Blue) and two tone cashmere and black leather upholstery, and was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show in 2014.

Furthermore, Ford did something else incredible as part of the celebrations, when they cut a convertible version of the Mustang into small sections, before reassembling it on the 86th floor - otherwise known as the observation deck - of the Empire State Building in New York.
